Abstract


In lingual orthodontic treatment, treatment goals should be carefully planned and expressed on a setup model. When it comes to extraction orthodontic treatment, control of labio-lingual inclination of anterior teeth should be considered first before starting the treatment. Four ways were suggested to accomplish treatment goals; using multi-slot designed lingual appliances and Tandem archwire technique, using various types of lever and skeletal anchorages, using different types of slot between anterior region (vertical slot) and posterior region (horizontal slot) and establishing excessive anterior torque that is needed to compensate the play between the slot and archwire, on the setup model. This case report describes a successful extraction orthodontic treatment result using lingual appliance with multi-slot design (vertical: 0.018 ¡¿ 0.018-inch, horizontal: 0.018 ¡¿ 0.025-inch) to achieve ideal occlusion and control of labio-lingual inclination of anterior teeth, just as it is planned on the setup model.
